What We’re Obsessed With This Week
Our first obsession this week is the new comic series Spaceman by Brian Azzarello. We announced the release with our coverage of the Vertigo Panel at New York Comic Con last week. The first issue of Spaceman debuted this week for only $1! Spaceman tells the story of Orson, a lonely guy in an unspecified post-apocalyptic world, who was genetically created to travel to Mars, but when the space program collapses, he spends his days collecting scrap metal and dreaming of the life he'll never Tell Me More!
Halloween Finds
Halloween is one of our favorite holidays here at On Wednesdays We Wear Pink, and with only a few days left we've decided to compile a list of our must have picks for this Halloween. You already know about our obsession with Candy Corn, so we couldn't resist these cute nails that pay tribute to our favorite candy! For best results use OPI in Atomic Orange, OPI in Need Sunglasses and for the white use Essie in Blanc. We found this cute flower headband with pearl centers on Etsy Tell Me More!
Neil Gaiman’s All Hallows Read Initiative
All Hallows Read is an idea that Neil Gaiman publicized on his blog last year before Halloween. The idea is to give someone a scary book (not necessarily in place of candy) and spread the joy of reading. Neil realized a deficiency in traditions that involve giving books and took the initiative to cure it by starting All Hallows Read on Halloween. Harpers Collins Publishers loved Neil's idea and hosted a book drop this past Tuesday in New York City. They hid 60 copies of scary books throughout Tell Me More!
The Walking Dead – “Bloodletting” Recap
Sunday night's episode of The Walking Dead seemed to be light on one thing, zombies. In fact, we don't see the first walker until 25 minutes into the 43 minute episode. I think that was a brilliant move on writer and new showrunner Glen Mazzara's part. It sends a clear message to the viewer that The Walking Dead is not really about zombies, it's about the human reaction to the zombie apocalypse. "Bloodletting" begins with a flashback to the day Rick (Andrew Lincoln) was shot. Lori (Sarah Tell Me More!
DIY Découpage Pumpkin
After spending the last 10 Halloweens in Florida I have learned a few things, one is that carved pumpkins do not like heat and humidity. Each year I would carve beautiful pumpkins only to have them wither away in a couple of weeks. This year I decided to try something different...découpage. You can do this on real pumpkins or use Funkins, which are artificial carvable pumpkins. I opted for the Funkins. I then bought a few pieces of beautiful damask paper, white paint, Mod Podge, and got to Tell Me More!
New York Comic Con Saturday Photos
Here is our wrap-up photo post of New York Comic Con featuring the best costumes we saw on Saturday. It's amazing how much New York Comic Con grows each year. There was a plethora of panels, exclusive screenings (including the hopefully not lost forever Locke & Key Pilot episode), exciting autographing sessions from very well respected writers, artists and actors. We can't wait until next year! Brian Azzarello at the DC booth Geoff Johns signing at the DC Booth Matt Tell Me More!
What We’re Obsessed With This Week
Our first obsession this week is The Big Bang Theory. After somewhat of a slower start this season, Big Bang made a very strong comeback with the last two episodes. Unlike most other shows, Big Bang excels in having guest stars appear. Last week we were thrilled to see that Wil Wheaton was back and making an attempt to be nice to Sheldon no less. Then yesterday, we were revisited by Laurie Metcalf who plays Sheldon's mother. Both episodes really brought Big Bang back to their roots and Tell Me More!
