C2E2: Quirk Books Spotlight
Quirk Books, an independent book publisher based in Philadelphia who celebrated their 10 year anniversary last year, attended C2E2 this past weekend and we had the pleasure of checking out all of their great titles! Quirk Books publishes 25 books per year including pop culture phenomenons, craft books, award winning cook books, children's books, and a wide range of non-fiction books. In the past, we've reviewed several of the titles they currently offer, and we're extremely excited to tell you Tell Me More!
C2E2 2013: IDW Announces Locke & Key: Alpha
Despite Locke & Key's conclusion, which is rapidly approaching as the last series Locke & Key: Omega is almost completely released, Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez have revealed the details of the Eisner-winning series finale. Instead of the series ending with issue #6 of Omega, the storyline will end with issue #5, and Hill and Rodriguez will collaborate for a two issue miniseries entitled Locke & Key: Alpha. Each issue in Locke & Key: Alpha will be oversized at 48 pages, and Tell Me More!
C2E2 2013: Elfquest Comes to Dark Horse
At the Diamond Retailers Summit, Dark Horse kicked off C2E2 with their announcement of an all-new Elfquest series, celebrating the 35th anniversary of the cult classic comic. They will also be releasing new editions of previously published Elfquest material in addition to the new series. “Dark Horse is a company I’ve admired ever since it sprang on the scene in the 1980s. Somehow, as large as they’ve grown, they’ve retained an independent spirit that Richard and I totally identify with. Tell Me More!
C2E2 2013: Image Comics Announces Image Expo 2013
At the Diamond Comics Retailer summit, Image Comics announced Image Expo 2013, a unique media event that will take place in San Francisco at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts on July 2, 2013. Image held the event last year in Oakland, CA, and offers attendees unprecedented access to creators, exclusive swag, and the first chance to hear announcements for the future plans at Image Comics. Image Expo 2013 will be an all-day event featuring announcements from Image Comics, the publisher Tell Me More!
NYCC 2012: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles LEGO Set
It wasn't too long ago that the newly rebooted Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show debuted to rave reviews on Nickelodeon, and LEGO has announced a TMNT set to celebrate the shows success. The new set will include minifigures of each of the four turtles (Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael, and Leonardo), as well as Krang, Leo, Mikey, Dogpound, and a foot soldier. The set will also contain the Turtles' van, and a pizza truck. LEGO announced at NYCC that you will be able to purchase your own set Tell Me More!
NYCC 2012: IDW Publishing Announces Mars Attacks Crossovers
Back in September when we attended Baltimore Comic Con, we covered the IDW Publishing Panel and teased about the Mars Attacks crossovers that would be taking place across IDW titles in 2013. This past weekend at NYCC, IDW Publishing officially announced which titles would be receiving the Martian treatment. NYCC 2012: Image Comics Wrap-Up
The Image Comics Panel was full announcements this year at NYCC. The panel was moderated by publisher Eric Stephenson along with a bunch of Image Comics authors and artists. The first announcement made was about Matt Fraction's newest series entitled Sex Criminals which will be illustrated by Chip Zdarsky, as well as Fraction's collaboration with Howard Chaykin on Satellite Sam, and Chaykin's own book, Midnight of the Soul. The next announcement was for Kieron Gillen and Ryan Kelly's new series Tell Me More!
NYCC 2012: DC Comics Wrap-Up
First up from DC Comics, was this new sizzle reel of The CW's new television series, Arrow, which is based on DC Comics' Green Arrow. The reel shows us a preview of what to expect this coming season, as well as some sneak peeks of Huntress, Deadshot, Deathstroke, China White and John Barrowman. Our most anticipated DC panel at NYCC this year was the DC Comics: Batman - Death Comes to Gotham Panel which was on Sunday. Anyone who picked up Batman or Batgirl #13 last Wednesday knows that Tell Me More!
