This morning, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced its nominations for the 2013 Academy Awards. The Oscars will be handed out on February 24th at 8:30pm ET on ABC. Steven Spielberg's Lincoln led the pack with 12 nominations, including best picture, best director, and best actor for Daniel Day-Lewis. 3D Printing Photo Booth Turns Your Photos Into Figurines
The world's first 3D printing photo booth is set to open later this month in the Harajuku area of Tokyo. Unlike traditional photo booths, the 3D printing photo booth creates mini replicas of its subjects. The process involves 3 easy steps: The photographer uses a 3D scanner to capture the subject's image, a process which requires them to stand still for about 15 minutes. Then, the photographer uploads the image to a computer for editing before printing out the figurine on the 3D printer. The Tell Me More!
Run For Your Lives 2013 Dates Announced!
Run For Your Lives, the zombie infested 5k obstacle course, may be coming to a city near you in 2013. Yesterday, the organizers announced 18 new dates! I participated in the RFYL race in Atlanta last March with my husband, and we had a blast! (You can read about it here.) It was so much fun that we've already signed up to race again in November. Showtime Invades Grand Central
For three days only from September 26-28th, Showtime is taking over Vanderbilt Hall on 42nd Street in Grand Central Terminal in New York City. In celebration of the new season of Dexter and Homeland which begin again this Sunday, the Showtime Experience will open for everyone to enjoy. The main highlights of the exhibit are outlined below. Indiana Jones IMAX & AMC Movie Marathon News
This fall is going to be a big season for Indiana Jones! It seems like the overwhelmingly positive response to Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures on blu-ray has prompted Lucasfilm to re-release Raiders of the Lost Ark... IN IMAX! The screenings will begin on September 7th and will continue for one week only as a limited time engagement. Cupcake Lovers Weekend
Last weekend my hubby and I took a mini staycation at one of our local resorts, the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek. We planned our stay around the resort's second-annual Cupcake Lovers Weekend. The weekend featured cupcake tastings, displays, decorating workshops, and even a cupcake pool party! Take a look at some of my pics from the weekend's events: The first cupcake I tasted. Spider-Man Week in NYC
Monday, June 25th, kicks off Spider-Man Week in New York City. The week will be full of events celebrating our friendly neighborhood superhero and leading up to the release of The Amazing Spider-Man movie. The week begins this morning between 7-9 am when the cast of the new movie will be appearing on The Today Show. One of the most exciting events planned, is that later tonight, the Empire State Building will lit red and blue, which will prompt a city wide celebration of Spidey. At Tell Me More!
I Survived My First Zombie 5k!
On Saturday, I attended my first Run For Your Lives race. Much like the name implies, this isn't your standard 5k. This race is a 5k and obstacle course combo. Oh, and it's infested with zombies! Sounds fun, right? It was! My hubby and I arrived in Atlanta on Friday evening to stormy weather and worried the rain might effect the next day's race.
