This weeks Geek Chic Icon of the Week is Lois Lane, but more specifically, the Smallville era Lois Lane played by Erica Durance. Lois Lane, Metropolis' finest reporter for The Daily Planet, can always be found chasing after a story in her platforms. Lane's work wardrobe is to die for. She always dresses professional and classy whether she is in the office writing her story or out on the street covering live events, and the casual clothes that she wears around the Kent farm are just as chic. Team Unicorn is a multi-media production company that was founded in 2012 by friends Rileah Vanderbilt, Clare Grant, Michelle Boyd, and Milynn Sarley. The four women were brought together in friendship over their mutual love of all things geeky including sci-fi, gaming, and cosplay. The ladies chose the name Team Unicorn for a good reason - because like unicorns, geek girls aren't supposed to exist.
Shortly after joining forces, the women decided to parody Katy Perry's hit song "California Tell Me More!
Amy Pond (played by Karen Gillan), the time traveling companion of BBC's Doctor Who and is being honored as our Geek Chic Icon of the Week. Amy travels through time with Doctor Who and her husband Rory, all while maintaining her unique sense of style. Pond is a daring character and her bravery shine through in her fashion choices. It's a safe bet that any girl sporting combat boots means business. Amy is best known for her miniskirts, leather jackets, and tights and boots combo. She always Tell Me More!
This week's Geek Chic Icon of the Week is The Walking Dead's Maggie Greene, played by Lauren Cohan. Since Maggie first appeared on our TV screens, she's impressed us with her post-zombie apocalypse chic. From her perfectly tousled hair to her figure flattering clothes, Maggie proves that you can still look good while kicking zombie ass. She usually keeps it simple, opting for jeans and a cute top. But the girl knows how to accessorize.
We're willing to bet that sales of cowboy hats rose after Tell Me More!
This weeks Geek Chic Icon of the Week was spotted at San Diego Comic Con in a Millennium Falcon Dress. Her name is Jennifer Landa and she is a major Star Wars fan. Upon seeing the pictures of her stunning ensemble via Twitter, we immediately Googled her and were excited to find that this was not the first crafty Star Wars skirt that Jennifer has created. She had previously worn a Death Star skirt at last years San Diego Comic Con. One of the best things about Jennifer's outfits Tell Me More!
Our very first Geek Chic Icon of the Week is none other than The Amazing Spider-Man's Gwen Stacy (played by Emma Stone). Throughout the entirety of the movie, we coveted Gwen's city chic style. Our favorite outfit, and one of her signature styles, can be seen below in the photo of Gwen and Peter sitting on the bleachers. Gwen is wearing a sky blue peacoat which she accessorizes flawlessly with her striped knit scarf, grey knee high tights, taupe knee high boots and blue leather gloves. The Tell Me More!
The above high fashion dress designs inspired by Marvel's The Avengers were created by Kelsey Michele, an artist on deviantART. Our favorites are the Captain America dress and the Iron Man dress. The Captain America dress, which is absolutely stunning, is even styled after a dress silhouette from Captain's era. We love how she transformed the shield into an evening clutch and added a star fascinator as a hair accessory. The Captain America dress is simply demure. The fitted bodice Tell Me More!
