DIY Pokéball Layer Cakes: Gotta Eat Them All!

DIY Pokéball Layer Cakes: Gotta Eat Them All!

These Pokéball layer cakes are perfection, and lucky for all of us, hon3y5un5h1n3 posted a tutorial of how to make your own Pokéball layer cakes on Instructables.  Beware, you cannot use cake mix to create these!  She warns that cake mix is too light and fluffy and will fall apart while you try to mold them.  Using fondant as the outer shell, and a layer of icing in the middle to keep your red velvet and vanilla cakes from separating, these mini cakes look so good, you've gotta eat them all!   (via Tell Me More!

Hobbit Cupcakes

Hobbit Cupcakes

Wellington bakery, Imaginariam Cakes, created these Hobbit cupcakes in honor of Friday's movie release.  Each cupcake is modeled after a dwarf in The Hobbit and accurately depicts their facial hair.  They also created cupcakes for Gandalf, Bilbo, and Gollum.  The baker of the cupcakes held a private screening of the film, in which they served dragon scorched cupcakes which depict the illustration Tolkien did of Smaug on the original Hobbit book cover. Back to the Future Cake

Back to the Future Cake

One of our favorite blogs, When Geeks Wed, recently posted this beautifully crafted Back to the Future wedding cake complete with Marty McFly, Dr. Brown, Lorraine Baines, and the Delorean.  It was created by Tracy of the Black Cherry Cake Company.  It looks so good, we would feel bad eating it... unless we could save the Delorean and use it to go back in time and reassemble the cake. Recently on When Geeks Wed, we found this amazing recipe for Princess Peach cupcakes!  They're inspired by Nintendo's notorious Princess Peach, and they're colored pink with real peaches in the center, plus each cupcake is topped off with a fondant crown.  They sound so delicious that we're tempted to bake a batch and host a Mario Party for our closest friends. What We’re Obsessed With This Week

What We’re Obsessed With This Week

Our first obsession this week is this cocktail that glows like the aurora borealis when placed under a black light as seen on That's Nerdalicious.  The ingredients are as follows: 2 liters of gin or vodka, 9 liters of tonic water, 3-4 bottles of Rose's mojito passion OR 2-4 canisters of pink lemonade concentrate ice.  All you have to do is mix all of these ingredients together, and add the ice in as late as possible before drinking and volia!  We may have to break out this recipe for the next Tell Me More!
