A few weeks ago, Dark Horse Comics released the trailer for their new series, The Star Wars, which is based on George Lucas's original screenplay for Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, and today, we have a preview of the upcoming #1 issue! The comic is written by J.W. Rinzier with artwork by Mike Mayhew and will be released on September 4, 2013.

Back in April we told you about Dark Horse's newest comic series, The Star Wars. The Star Wars is based on George Lucases original movie script for A New Hope which is very different from the film released in 1977 that we all know and love. Now, we finally have an official comic trailer for the series and some still images of the concept art to be used in the comic. The limited series will be written by J.W. Rinzier with artwork by Mike Mayhew and will be released in September of 2013.

Dark Horse Comics announced via press release yesterday that they will be publishing an adaptation of the original Star Wars screenplay George Lucas penned for A New Hope in comic book form. The limited series will be written by J.W. Rinzier with artwork by Mike Mayhew. The eight issue mini series is scheduled for release in September of 2013. The official press release states:

Since the announcement that Disney had acquired Lucasfilm and planned to make new Star Wars movies, rumors have persisted that the original stars of the 1977 film would return to reprise their iconic roles. So, will we see Han, Luke, and Leia in Star Wars Episode VII? George Lucas says there's a good possibility we will.
Lucas sat down for an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek where he confirmed that (before the Disney deal) he had completed the outlines for 3 new Star Wars films, and had Tell Me More!
The Walt Disney Company announced today that it has acquired Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion. The company also announced its plans to release a new Star Wars movie in 2015.
