What We’re Obsessed With This Week

Our first obsession are these high fashion Star Wars watercolor paintings by John Woo.  He depicts each of our favorite characters in designer duds that he envisions them donning on their days off.  The above painting shows Darth Vader wearing Band of Outsiders.  Hiis others include Padme Amidala wearing Gareth Pugh, Jango Fett wearing Comme Des Garçons, a Scout Trooper wearing Viktor & Rolf, a Stormtrooper wearing Thom Browne, Jar Jar Binks wearing Maison Martin Margiela, a Stormtrooper wearing A.P.C., a Stormtrooper wearing Junya Wantanabe, and Boba Fett wearing Supreme and Visvim.  You can see the rest of his work and buy his prints for $60 each in John Woo’s Etsy Shop.

Our next obsession are these Breaking Bad nails we came across on tumblr.  The nails were designed by Kayleigh O’Connor who had just recently began watching Breaking Bad and immediately fell in love with the show.  Kayleigh is known for her detailed nail art, you may have seen her Tetris, Batman or Indiana Jones nails which were recently featured on Buzzfeed. You can check out the rest of Kayleigh’s work on her DeviantArt page.

Our next obsession is the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One – Avengers Assembled (10-Disc Six-Movie Collector’s Set).  The blu-ray set includes Marvel’s The Avengers, Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor, Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Bonus Disc – The Phase One Archives, a glowing Tesseract, and other collectable memorabilia, all encased in Nick Fury’s silver briefcase.    The set will be released on September 25, 2012 but can be pre-ordered now from Amazon for $139.96.

Our next obsession is the release of the new Season 2 poster for Fox’s New Girl.  Zooey and the rest of the guys will be returning to television for their second season on September 25.  The new tagline is “New Season.  Same Towels,” which refers to an episode in season one where Schmidt discovers that Nick has been re-using the same towel over and over again causing it to be damp.  If you missed any of the first season, you can catch up this summer, as Fox is re-airing all of the old episodes on Thursdays!

Our last obsession this week is with the world’s most expensive cupcake. Anyone who reads this blog knows how much we love cupcakes, so when we saw the news that the world’s most expensive cupcake had been created in Dubai our interest piqued. The cupcake, created by Bloomsbury Cupcakes, is called The Golden Phoenix and it comes with a staggering $1600 price tag! So, what do you get for $1600? Well, The Golden Phoenix is baked using premium Amedei Porcelana chocolate and Ugandan Vanilla Beans. Once baked, the cupcake is then rolled in 23 carat edible gold sheets. Next, it’s iced with chocolate frosting and dusted with edible gold dust. Finally, The Golden Phoenix is garnished with chocolate covered strawberries and more gold dust before being served with a gold spoon. We’re sold! Now, we just need to find $3200. Oh, and does anyone know how much airfare to Dubai costs?
